Roques et Lecoeur RL700 rotary tiller – Briggs & Stratton 130200 engine replaced by VILLIERS G2000 VFQ
Having owned a Roques et Lecoeur rotary tiller whose Briggs and Stratton engine was very worn out after good and loyal service (40 years) and given the difficulty of finding spare parts, I decided to replace the engine with a VILLIERS G200 VFQ of 6.5 HP (photo 2).
After dismantling the old engine (photo 1 & 2) and recovering the pulley and reverse gear guide, I reinstalled these two accessories on the new engine (photo 3, 4, 5 & 6) without any difficulty (same dimensions) as well as the exhaust deflector kit (photo 7) purchased at the same time as the engine.
Next, I attached the engine to the tiller frame (photos 8 & 9) without any difficulty (the Villiers G200 VFQ mountings are identical to the Briggs & Stratton ones), except that I had to replace the hex bolt on the reverse roller support with a pan head bolt; otherwise, the engine's second oil filler cap was hitting the hex bolt (photos 10 & 11). A very minor modification!
The old throttle lever was replaced with the new one (photo 12), also purchased from MAG MOTEUR DIRECT. On the carburetor side, the cable was secured with the old Briggs & Stratton flange (photos 13 & 14) as it was missing on the Villiers G200.
Then the oil and petrol tanks were filled before starting the engine which went very well and after testing it was more efficient than the old one (photo 15).
Thanks to MAG MOTEUR DIRECT.
