Re-engining of 3 Staub PPX tillers with Köhler CH270 Italian cone engine and Ecomoteur EM70
On the first rotary tiller, a PPX S8 which was equipped with a Lombardini LA250 engine, only the ground support needed modification. The flange and clutch plate can be reassembled as is.
On the PPX S6 equipped with a Bernard 239 engine, it was also necessary to machine a new clutch plate on a lathe. The clutch weight shafts were reused from the old plate. Installation requires the fabrication of an adapter piece (replacing the one supplied with the engine) between the Bernard flange and the engine.
The PPX equipped with a Mag engine required the same modifications as the Bernard.
To retain the removable throttle cable system (reversing the handlebars), it is necessary to install a return spring.
It is especially important to fit new clutch springs (modern engines have a higher idle speed).
Finally, a stop button and a throttle grip were fitted to the handlebars.
