The engine on my old Mitsubishi rototiller was faulty, but the attachments (tines, wheels, share) were still usable. So I decided to replace the engine. I searched online and found the company "SDC Imports" located in Escueillens (11240). I called them, and a specialist gave me excellent advice on choosing the right engine for my rototiller at a reasonable price. He also kindly offered to ream out the old 18mm pulley to a 20mm diameter output shaft. I received my new engine, reference "VIL-G200-VFC", via Colissimo with the pulley ready to be installed.
Here are the different stages of the transformation I carried out with the purchased engine:
Dismantling the old engine.
To adapt the new engine, it had to be moved forward a few centimeters so that the exhaust wouldn't touch the chassis, which I cut about 3 cm off with a hacksaw. Then I attached a 1 cm thick, 24 cm long, and 16 cm wide duralumin plate, purchased from a scrap metal dealer. The engine sits on top of this plate.
With the two pulleys aligned using a wooden ruler, I marked the holes for the old motor from underneath and the holes for the new motor from above. I drilled the 8.5 mm diameter holes to attach 8 mm stainless steel screws, washers, and nuts.
Obviously the old belt was too short. I found one of the correct size at Etablissements Véniel in La Rochelle, a very well-stocked store.
Final phase: filling with oil and fuel.
First pull of the starter cord, the engine starts.
Experiment with strawberries.
Test with the plow.
Everything is working fine.
