Carroy Giraudon flail mower replaced by Villiers G390VFQ

Tondo-broyeur à fléaux Carroy Giraudon remplacé par Villiers G390VFQ

Here are some photos of the Villiers G390 engine with a 25.4mm Q-type crankshaft, pulley, and 80x25.4mm cast iron hub – a gem!
I am a landscape gardener, so this is for professional use.
First of all, the machine is a Carroy Giraudon flail mower, pulled by a quad or lawnmower, which I recovered in a bad state (perforated sheet metal, seized bearings, broken flails, no engine,...). I stripped everything down, refurbished it, modified the wheels (removed the side wheels, made a frame on the front to put swivel wheels on it, which allows me to push it with my rototiller and therefore does not flatten the grass like with a quad downstream, a detail for those in the know...) and repainted it.
The original engine was a Honda GX340 11hp, but the connecting rod went through the crankcase, so it was ruined. The engine was no longer on the machine when I got it, and we never found the pulley.
I chose to install a 13hp Villiers engine because it has a cast iron cylinder and a 2-year warranty. I opted for a more powerful engine because it's always better to have more power than less, and as a result, the engine runs mostly at 3/4 RPM. The engine arrived in good condition and was clean. It had been tested before shipping; I added oil and gasoline, and it started right up. I let it run for about 45 minutes, idling, at various RPMs, with the maximum being mid-range.
I put the engine on the machine, no modification to the mounting, everything fit very well because the 11 and 13hp have the same casing and for the engine pulley I put the most standard one, i.e. 80mm and it works well.
First oil change done at 6-7 hours of work, still starts right up.

To sum up this purchase, the engine pulls well, the finish is good, it starts easily, it's as good as a Honda for everyday use... I'm very happy with it and now a friend of mine, after seeing it, is going to order one for a vibrating plate compactor (whose engine is broken). I want to thank Mathieu for his helpful and quick advice. I recommend this supplier and this brand without hesitation!
